One Load a Day

Now that I'm feeling better, I decided to do one load of wash a day. I started last Monday. It has worked out so good. Sometimes I put a load in when I go to bed and then put it in the dryer before Mia's early morning feeding. Now there are no wads of clothes in the floor in the basement and stacks of clothes in baskets to be brought upstairs to be folded.

Sunday, Stephanie brought over a lasanga and garlic bread, not just a 2 person lasagna, a 9x13 pan full. How are just two people and a small child supposed to eat that much food before it goes bad. So I called Sophie and asked if she and Tim would like to come for supper. They arrived around 2:30 pm to play with Emily. Rich made a salad, baked the garlic bread and the lasagna. We ate and ate, it was really good. I think it had pepperoni's in it.

After dinner, Tim held Mia on the couch. Rich went to the office to clean. I cleared the table and Emily helped Sophie wash the dishes. When everything was cleaned, Sophie and Tim left and then Emily and I watched Curious George the rest of the evening. Mia was awake for about 3 hours. I was so tired. Finally Mia fell asleep and so did I.

Big Sister Emily says
"Give him kisses"
"Awww, he is so cute"
"Cute little arms"
"Hold him"
(She addresses Mia as a he or him)

Little Sleeper . . .

Mia loves to sleep. Yah for me. Emily was such a bad baby. She fussed and cried 24/7. She is still miss drama queen and has to have everyones full attention. Mia on the other hand, never cries unless she is hungry or has gas. Except for today she got lonely in her crib and wanted me to hold her.

Mia's is 1 week old today. Her schedule:

Eat: 2 oz bottle every 3-4 hours

  • 3 am, 8 am, 11 am, 2 pm, 5 pm, 8 pm, 11 pm
Diapers: 6 a day
  • changed at every feeding

Clothes Size: newborn is too big, preemie fits just right

Sleep: all the time

Awake: 10-20 minutes after eating

Family

Lastnight, Bigdaddy called and said that he and Aunt Lydia (who is visting this week-painting Aaron's house) wanted to come and visit today at 2:30 pm. So today I called and said he could come, except he didn't answer the phone. So I called Aunt Lydia, she said that she wanted to visit me, mia and emily and Bigdaddy was going to bring her. Ok so 1 pm came around I cleaned the living room, picked up the air mattress, and toys. Then I started to feel sick. I'm feel like I'm only about 50% recovered from delivering Mia and the tubal. Plus, breastfeeding hasn't been going like planned and I'm very sore from that. So I called and cancelled. Rickey and Linda were coming today also. I called Linda and said I wasn't feeling well, so they cancelled as well.

Rich decided to take Emily to McDonalds and Toy R Us. So that left me with the whole afternoon. So I fed Mia a bottle of formula and we laid down the air mattress. Mia on the pillow beside me and we slept all afternoon. It was so nice to get a wade of sleep at one time.

Here are some pictures I took at the hospital when my sister and her kids came to visit.

Re-Adjusting.

Trying to get re-adjusted to home life. Today Sophie, Tim and Grandma came over and folded laundry, iron clothes & washed dishes. The house feels so much cleaner. Now I need to keep it that way. So tonight I washed more dishes and did a load of clothes. Sophie and Tim took Emily with them to play for a couple of hours. So I had the whole afternoon with just Mia. I pulled out all the stacked up mail from the last month and sorted and filed everything. Just need to clip hundreds of coupons.

I moved the crib from the dining room to the living room because of the air conditionar. So tonight I want to put her in crib after each feeding. She likes sleeping propped up on a pillow with blankets around, i.e. the couch. So I put a pillow in her crib and layed a big blanket on top. She has been sound asleep for the last 2 hours. Maybe I can get some good sleep tonight. Every 2 hours is just napping time.

Emily is also adjusting very well, much better then expected. Tonight, after playing with Thomas the train and Little People, she got her new doll and accesories and lined them up. She laid down a baby wipe and made a table setting. She moved her place setting around and carried around her doll. Also tonight she her 2 fingers (one from each hand) stuck in her dolls potty chair. Stay calm. Rich got vegetable oil to slide them out. Hopefully she won't try that again.

A day in pictures . . . One day before you were born

Big D-Day Coming Soon. . .

This morning was another doctor's appointment with ultrasound. The baby weighed around 7 lbs 4 oz. I decided I wanted another Amniocentesis to see if the baby was ready. I got the phone call around 1:30 pm. Yeah!! Mia's lungs are ready. The nurse said to check in at the hospital at 5:30 am tomorrow morning. They are going to break my water and give me some picotin. So hopefully she will come in short order sometime. Will post pictures in a couple of days.

I asked Emily if she was ready to a big sister tomorrow. She said "Let me get my mutney (blanket)". She grabbed her blanket, her pillow and her stuffed kitty and was ready to go. She thought maybe we were going right then. She keeps telling me that "baby needs to go to hospital".

Next update:
Rich's parents and grandmother picked up Emily around 7:30 pm and took her to their house to spend the night.

I've been busy taking baby belly pictures and finishing packing my hospital bags. Its 10:50 pm, I'm gettting ready to go to bed. I have to up bright and early and it will be a long awaited day tomorrow.

Still waiting . . .

After being disapointed being sent home on Wednesday night from Triage, we have just been layng around waiting. I've been sleeping alot. I don't have the energy to hardly walk to the next room. Emily has been wound up. I wish I had a 10th of her energy. She just runs and runs in circles around the house. She is up at 9 am and goes to bed around 2 am. Rich has been working around the clock and trying to keep the dishes washed and is making all the meals. I told Rich Tuesday would be a good day for baby. My blood pressure has been elevated in the morning. So maybe Tuesday when I go to the doctor my blood pressure will be up and I can talk to the right doctor about inducing. I'm so ready.

So Ready . . .

Blood Pressure was 143/92 way too high. A definite sign of pre-eclampsia. So today i called the Maternal-Fetal nurse and the Family Center nurse. Then sent a text message to my doctor on her cell phone. Dr. Zimmerman called me on my cell around 6 pm and told me to come on to the hospital. Rich got home and I got ready. We got in triage around 9 pm. After 1 hour, my blood and urine test came back perfect. So guess what another false alarm. Home again . . . I'm having regular contractions - I'm just so ready for baby to come.

Oh and we have a full name for her now. Rich told me a middle name he picked out.

Mia Elizabeth

Bed Rest

I'm came home from hospital yesterday morning. The second urine test came back at 280 count. Meaning maybe the first one was a fluke. So now they are not going to induce until they know for sure that the lungs are developed. So the doctor mentioned that I might need another Amniocentesis and then be induced by the 39th week. I have a feeling I'll go before then.

So for now, the doctor's want me to stay on bed rest. So here I sit on the computer. Just waiting!!

Hospital Monitoring.

Little did I realize that Thursday morning I would be admitted in the hospital. I just went in for my regular ultrasound appointment. Dr. Vermillion (my high risk doctor) decided to put me in the hospital just for monitoring and to run some tests.

I started to have regular contractions around 9 pm on Thursday night. They continued until Friday midday. Its Saturday and they have stopped. I have one here and there. On Friday, we decided with Dr. Vermillion to have Amniocentesis done to decide if they baby's lungs were developed. If they were, we could go ahead with Plan A and induce and have the baby today. The test came back around 5:30pm Friday. Nope the baby's lungs are not even close to ready. It would be at least another week to 1 1/2 weeks before they would be fully developed. So now off for Plan B. Last night around 6 pm they started another urine test to test for pre-eclampsia. If its about the same as the yesterday's test. I will be going home tomorrow morning and then be brought in around 38 weeks for an induction. Plan C would be if they test show that my count is higher then yesterday. I would just stay in the hospital and then they would induce at 37 weeks.

So I guess we'll see. Ok, I posted the above at lunch time. Its now midnight and I have more details.

The urine test came back fine. So I'm going home in the morning, just as long as nothing drastic happens during the night. The doctor said I would have to be on bed rest until I'm induced. There has been no date set for the inducing yet, but it will probably be between Aug 17-22 (the 38Th week).

Phrase of the Day

I'm so tired today. I can't get enough sleep. Emily watched Frosty the Snowman about 6 times, then Winnie the Pooh. She was on the air matress and looked at me and said.

"Watch Santy Claus and the monster who took the deer"
(meaning Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer)

Emily fell asleep watching Rudolph. I'm working on Mia's new baby book. I made a nice one for Emily and haven't kept up with it. So I'm going to try something different for Mia. (Hey look Rich said baby ross first name is going to be Mia. It feels good to actually type a name) so today I was working on her family tree for her book.

Isn't it a cute design its from MaryJane's etsy shop. I just love it. So I think Mia's new baby book is going to be all retro/vintage design.

Smile. Today would be a wonderful day not to take life so seriously. Today may end up the way you prefer - and it may not. Happiness is not about being a winner - it's about being gentle with life - being gentle with yourself. Let life be a dance, and choose the kind of dance you want for today - perhaps a gentle loving dance.
